Ceramics Resident Artist

Artists in need of quiet, semi-private space may be best suited as a Ceramic Resident Artist for one year. Enjoy a rent based studio divided amongst two or three other ceramic artists. Semi-private spaces are furnished by the artists. These Artists are required to volunteer at Mother Brook Arts 3 hrs per month and contribute to the maintenance of the studio and facilities.

Program Benefits

  • Receive a key to the main classroom, RM2, the kiln room, and building entrance

  • Tuition discount on Ceramics Education Programs

  • Participate in annual Open Studios, Pottery Sale and other events

  • Access to kilns and glaze lab for firing and mixing glazes

  • Use any clay body (not to be fired above cone 6)

Program Details

  • Extensive studio experience is required

  • Key deposit of $100 allows for door fob and 3 room keys

  • 24hr access to facilities

  • Confirmation of knowledge of glaze formulation and kiln safety before use

  • Proper clean up in common areas

  • Proper use of all equipment

  • Required to use their own tools, throwing wheel, etc.

  • Students and CSAs have priority over classroom equipment

  • Annual fees applied for use of glaze materials and kiln firings

  • Coordinate with Ceramics Program Director for volunteer tasks

  • Understanding that the kilns are shared with a Ceramics program serving over 100 people - this rental may not be the best fit for an artist seeking to fire kilns more than twice per month

  • Leases end December 31st - Resident must be in good standing in order to renew
